Lucas is currently completing a Masters in Architecture at the University of Technology, Sydney. In 2014 he completed a Bachelor of Design in Architecture, graduating as the Australian Institute of Architects First Degree Graduate of the Year. His final project won the UTS/Sydney Olympic Park design competition and was nominated for the Australian Institute of Architects First Degree Design Medal.

During his studies, Lucas has travelled to the United States on a study tour examining early Modernism through to contemporary American architecture, as well as Japan on a study tour visiting the work of seminal comtemporary Japanese architects.  More recently Lucas travelled to Berlin to undergo a research and design project focused on German post-war and affordable housing solutions. 

Prior to joining Andrew Burges Architects in 2014, Lucas worked with Suters Architects and Tomahawk / Archer Breakspear where he worked on a range on residential, institutional, cultural and industrial design projects.

Lucas has an active role in architectural education, tutoring history and theory and architectural communications at the University of Technology.
