Our proposal for a new addition to an existing single level federation cottage focussed on reinterpreting the weight and modulation of the existing federation walls with new thickened storage walls organising the rear addition. Through these new walls, the threshold between new and old was carefully orchestrated with a weight and solidity appropriate to the front of the house while allowing a very light and open connection to the garden.
